Grand Army Plaza Unified Design Interactive Map

NYC DOT has decided to pursue Option B: Unified Plan for the redesign of Grand Army Plaza. This plan is complex and would eliminate the “roundabout” design to create a pedestrian connection between the Grand Army Plaza arch and Prospect Park.

In order to better understand that new traffic patterns this design would generate, we created this interactive map. The map shown is one presented during the previous round of DOT’s community outreach. You may click on any of the desired route buttons in order to view car route patterns.

A few notes:

  • It appears that the Flatbush Avenue bus redesign will also occur which will lower the traffic lanes on Flatbush to one lane is each direction. It is unclear where in this connection the merge will occur. The interactive map is illustrating this merge going westbound after passing Plaza Street.
  • There does not appear to be a left turn lane when traveling southbound from Vanderbilt Avenue and the route is reflecting this feature.
DOT will be hosting community outreach through April about their plan to modify Grand Army Plaza by unifying the arch and park entrance. This is a major connection point for many Brooklyn neighborhoods. Please show up and make your voice heard!
